Always on the go, but need internet access for your PC? Look no further, Sierra Wireless AC597E PCI Express Card for Sprint is the answer to your Internet Access problems when sitting at the airport waiting to catch your next flight. Some people need internet more than they need water/air/food to live, and this wireless card would ensure you get your adequate dose of internet on the go or at home. Being owner of this wireless card myself - I can give you some good insights on what this little device has to offer.

Installation & Interface

The installation of this card on my laptop was a breeze. Came with an installation CD, pop the CD in - call Sprint Customer Service - and the card was activated and working in less than 10 minutes. Once installed, all you need to do is - turn it on through the Sprint PCS application, and this card would ensure that you are online for the next several hours.

Performance

After using the card for more than two months, I have been pleased with its performance. Although it adverstises download speed bursts upto 3.1MBPS, but expect the download speed to be around 1-1.5MBPS. I do some heavy web related stuff - and it gets the job done with ease. I have been using the Sierra Wireless AC597E PCI Express Card as the primary source of Internet at home, and office - and overall the performance is quiet satisfactory. Upload speeds vary between 500-900KBPS which is not too bad either.

GPS Functionality

Really liked the GPS functionality of this card, although I don't use it a lot since I already have a GPS navigator for my car. But, this card does come in handy when you are trying to locate the nearest bank, coffee shop, or gas station around. It connects with MSN Live Maps to give you directions, and access to the information you need.

Wireless Card Features:

Below is a summary of some features of the card:

  • Transfer wireless data at speeds of 3.1 Mbs on the downlink and 1.8 Mbps on the uplink, on the latest EV-DO Rev A networks
  • High performance internal antenna
  • Dual-band on the 800 and 1900 MHz bands
  • Receive diversity
  • LBS / GPS support
  • Field firmware upgradeable
  • Compatible with both Windows & Mac
Where to Buy?

If you buy through Sprint PCS Store, this card would cost you at least $150. My recommendation is to order through LetsTalk. You can get this card for FREE at Letstalk after a $50 Mail in Rebate with Sprint. Also, I would like to say that sign up for the $59.99/mo unlimited data plan if you plan on using this card as your primary source of internet. Else you can go with the $39.99/mo plan which has 40MB data usage (not so much if you are a heavy user).

Overall, this card from Sprint is a clear winner and highly recommended for you and your business. Click here to buy from LetsTalk using the FREE Promotional Offer . If you have used this card, please post your feedback through our comment system.
